BHUBANESWAR: The  Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi today visited the affected areas of more than 12 blocks of 5 districts from the sky to take a first-hand look at the flood situation in the state. The Hon’ble Chief Minister was accompanied by the Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Shri Suresh Pujari and the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC). Due to the timely steps and advance preparations of the government, major damage has been averted.

 The situation of the affected blocks of Jajpur (Dasarathpur, Bari, Binjharpur), Bhadrak (Dhamnagar, Bhandaripokhari, Chandbali), Balasore (Sor, Remuna, Balasore Sadar), Mayurbhanj (Badsahi, Udla, Kaptipada) and Keonjhar (Hatdihi) is being monitored and the situation in Puri district is also being closely monitored.
2.69 lakh people have been evacuated to safer places. 17 ODRAF, 7 NDRF and 129 fire and emergency services teams are engaged in rescue operations and 700 shelters are being provided with cooked and dry food, drinking water, plastic bags and medical services.
 Rs 26 crore has been sanctioned from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to expedite relief and rescue operations. Orders have been issued to submit a final report on the damage within 3 days of the flood waters receding and based on the report, immediate assistance packages will be provided for agriculture and house demolition.
 The Health Department has been asked to take immediate steps for the immediate repair of damaged roads and control of post-flood health problems and water-borne diseases.
The State Government stands firmly with every flood-affected citizen. Senior officers are directly at the field level supervising the relief and restoration work. The Hon’ble Chief Minister assured that the administration will remain engaged in round-the-clock service till the flood situation is brought under complete control.
