JAJPUR/CUTTACK:A Central Range Level Workshop on Human Trafficking and Women Empowerment was successfully organized today at Jajpur district, bringing together key stakeholders from law enforcement, civil administration, and social sectors to deliberate on effective strategies for prevention, protection, and empowerment. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Satyajit Naik, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Central Range, who in his address emphasized the urgent need for a coordinated, intelligence-driven, and victim-centric approach to combat the growing menace of human trafficking. He highlighted the changing dynamics of trafficking networks and stressed on enhanced inter-agency coordination, technological intervention, and community awareness as key pillars in addressing the issue.

The program was graced by Ambar Kar, OAS,  Collector cum District Magistrate, Jajpur who underlined the critical role of the district administration in strengthening institutional mechanisms for prevention, rescue, rehabilitation, and reintegration of trafficking survivors. He emphasized the importance of convergence among various departments such as Women & Child Development, Labour, Education, and Police to tackle the root causes of trafficking, including socio-economic vulnerabilities, lack of awareness, and limited livelihood opportunities. The Superintendent of Police, Jajpur, Yash Pratap Shrimal, IPS also addressed the gathering and highlighted the proactive measures undertaken by the district police, including identification of vulnerable pockets, strengthening of Anti-Human Trafficking Units (AHTUs), regular rescue operations, and awareness campaigns at the grassroots level. He reiterated the firm commitment of Jajpur Police towards strict enforcement of laws and ensuring safety and dignity of women and children.
The workshop witnessed active participation from police officers of various districts under the Central Range, officials from line departments, representatives of NGOs, legal experts, and community leaders, making it a comprehensive platform for dialogue and collaboration. Detailed discussions were held on emerging trends and modus operandi in human trafficking, legal provisions and investigation techniques, victim rehabilitation and support systems, and various initiatives aimed at women empowerment, including education, skill development, and economic independence. Interactive sessions and case study-based discussions enabled participants to share field-level experiences, challenges, and best practices, while also highlighting the importance of community vigilance and the role of civil society in preventing trafficking.
The workshop concluded with a collective resolve among all stakeholders to strengthen coordination, enhance capacity building, and intensify efforts to combat human trafficking while simultaneously promoting sustainable women empowerment initiatives across the Central Range. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring a safer, more inclusive, and equitable society through continuous collaboration, awareness, and effective implementation of policies and laws.
