BHUBANESWAR:Bhubaneswar Muncipal Corporation has received another success at the national level. BMC has been honored at the national level for the steps taken by BMC to make the city rabies free and for the mass vaccination system.
BMC has been specially promoted in the two-day (28-29) workshop on making India a rabies-free state held in Delhi.
In this workshop organized by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, a draft action plan has been prepared by the Government of India to make the state rabies-free in the coming days. Members of the Ministries of Health, Animal Husbandry, CDC (Atlanta) and Medical, Veterinary, Public Health along with members of Urban Local Self-Government Bodies and Municipal Corporations of various states attended the workshop. The objective of this workshop is to make India rabies-free by 2030 and to strengthen the action plan at the state level accordingly. Because rabies is a deadly disease with a 100% mortality rate.
To ensure the safety of the citizens and to make Bhubaneswar a rabies-free city, the Bhubaneswar Metropolitan Corporation (BMC) has organized a mass dog vaccination (MDV) program as per the N.A.P.R.E. To ensure the safety of the citizens and to make Bhubaneswar a rabies-free city, a team led by Dr. Prashant Kumar Sika (BMC Nodal Officer) presented the information regarding the steps taken by Bhubaneswar Metropolitan Corporation.
The mass vaccination program conducted by BMC to make the city rabies-free was highly appreciated by the members present and the BMC has been commended by the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Government of India. It is said that the advice of Hon’ble Mayor Smt. Sulochana Das and the visionary instructions of Commissioner Shri Chanchal Rana have given BMC this success.
