BHUBANESWAR: After the untimely demise of an Odia migrant worker working in Goa in an accident, Berhampur Lok Sabha MP Dr. Pradeep Kumar Panigrahi has written an urgent letter to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of the state Shri Mohan Charan Majhi requesting his intervention to bring back his mortal remains to Odisha.
The incident revealed that Ganesh Dalabehera, 32-year-old son of Shri Tarang Dalabehera of Jamadhia village, Badasindhaba gram panchayat, Mohana block, Gajapati district, had been working as a labourer in Sakili area under Bicholim police station in North Goa for the last three months to support his family. But today (22.06.2026) at around 3 am, he was in critical condition after he suddenly fell from a four-storey building.
He was immediately taken to the hospital where the doctor declared him dead. After receiving this sad news, the poor family of the deceased Ganesh has completely collapsed. Due to their poor financial condition, it is not possible for them to bring the body back to their village from Goa. After complaining to the MP in this regard, Dr. Panigrahi immediately drew the attention of the Chief Minister to this issue. MP Dr. Panigrahi requested the Chief Minister that the Odisha government should immediately coordinate with the Goa administration and make arrangements to bring the body of the deceased worker back to Odisha with dignity.
Along with this, he has demanded through the letter to provide emergency financial assistance to the helpless and bereaved tribal families from the ‘Chief Minister’s Relief Fund’ (CMRF). It is worth noting that a copy of this letter has also been sent to the State Chief Secretary, Odisha Bhavan Residential Commissioner in New Delhi and Gajapati District Magistrate for urgent action, so that the process can be completed very soon.
