NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: The New Delhi office of BJP National Vice President, Baijayant Jay Panda , has requested Delhi Police to release a Bengaluru youth, who was arrested over a threat call made to BJP National VP’s Office few days back.
During interrogation, the person admitted that he had made the call out of frustration and not out of any malicious intent. He has given a written confession with an apology and assurance to not repeat such actions. ‘Based on this, our office has decided not to press charges and requested the Delhi Police to release him. We have also agreed to not divulge his name to prevent any possible harassment to him,’ Baijayant Panda’s Political Secretary Jyoti Prakash Ghose said in a statement.
Sources said, “A member of senior BJP leader Jay Panda’s team had received a phone call conveying a death threat to Panda. A complaint had been registered with Delhi Police who investigated the matter. The police traced the call to a number in Bengaluru, after which they sent a team, arrested the said person and brought him to Delhi for questioning.
A threat call was received by an assistant of Jay Panda, in which the caller threatened that ‘the same will be done to Jay Panda which was done to ex Minister of Odisha, Naba Das, who was gun down in a broad daylight earlier this year.
