BHUBANESWAR:Amidst rising geopolitical tensions in West Asia and volatility in global energy markets, Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan has praised the pro-people initiatives of the Government of India. He termed the decision to reduce central excise duty on petrol and diesel and increase LPG allocation for the commercial sector as a “appropriate and bold” step.

Shri Pradhan said that the reduction in Central Excise Duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 10 per litre will particularly benefit the middle class families, common consumers and traders of the country. This decisive step will prove to be a milestone in controlling inflation and maintaining financial stability of the country. He thanked Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman for this.

At a time when global supply chains are being disrupted, it is a far-sighted decision to increase the commercial LPG allocation by 20 per cent above the pre-crisis level to 70 per cent. This will make key sectors like steel, textiles, chemicals and automobiles more efficient. Labour-intensive industries will be supported and economic dynamism will be maintained. Minister Shri Pradhan also said that the imposition of export duty on diesel and aviation fuel (ATF) is a clear indication of the country’s prioritization of energy security and national interest. At a time when many countries of the world are struggling with energy crisis and rising prices, India’s balanced approach reflects the Prime Minister’s able leadership.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Hardeep Singh Puri for this reformative decision in the energy sector. Shri Pradhan said in his message that the Modi government is always committed to ensuring energy security of the country and improving the standard of living of the people.
