BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday held a discussion with Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group , to review the progress of the group’s ongoing and proposed investments across the state.
On this occasion, the Aditya Birla Group proposed a Rs 12,000 crore investment for the expansion of the Kansariguda alumina refinery. With this refinery, capacity is to be enhanced from 1 to 3 MTPA.
The project is expected to generate substantial direct and indirect employment and create further opportunities for local enterprises, service providers, and downstream industries.
The meeting also explored opportunities across aluminium, chemicals, cement, renewable energy, textiles & apparel, along with potential investments in copper refining, advanced aluminium products, technical textiles, paints, jewellery manufacturing and electronics.
A key outcome of the meeting was the Group’s proposal to invest an additional Rs 12,000 crore to expand the Kansariguda Alumina Refinery in Rayagada. The expansion will increase the refinery’s capacity to 3 MTPA, with the total project investment reaching Rs 20,000 crore.
Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Development Commissioner DK Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Industry, IPR and Home, Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary to CM Saswat Mishra , Private Secretary to CM Manoj Sahoo were among those present.
