JHARSUGUDA:The Additional District Magistrate and Special POCSO Court judge of Jharsuguda has pronounced the final verdict in the case of rape of a minor girl over a long period of time. The main accused in the case, stepfather Ranjit Kumar Mishra, has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

According to the details of the case, a minor girl residing in Jharsuguda police station area had filed a written complaint against her stepfather Ranjit Kumar Mishra. The accused had been continuously forcibly having physical intercourse with the minor girl, threatening to kill her.
As soon as the complaint was received, the Jharsuguda Police immediately registered a case (Case No. 497/2024) and started the investigation process. Under the direct supervision of Jharsuguda SP Shri Raghavendra Gundala Reddy, the police diligently collected all the evidence and submitted the charge sheet in the court within just 58 days. After this, the charge was framed in the court within just 26 days and the trial process began.
Due to the state police’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy in the area of ​​women and child protection, the culprits in such sensitive cases are being punished severely in a very short time.
