BHUBANESWAR:A high-level ‘PRAYASS’ meeting was held at Lok Seva Bhawan under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi for the development of the social sector of the state and permanent solutions to the problems. In the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized on building an empowered society through health, nutrition and quality education and directed to solve the problems at the grassroots level immediately.
A detailed review has been conducted on the functioning of the Departments of Health and Family Welfare, Women and Child Development, and School and Public Education. The concerned departments have been directed to take more effective steps to reduce the maternal mortality rate to the lowest level and reduce the infant and newborn mortality rate.
Emphasis has been placed on providing better medical facilities for pregnant women and newborns in rural and remote areas, strengthening emergency services, and increasing the accountability of health workers.
The ‘Suposhit Odisha’ campaign will be further accelerated to eliminate child malnutrition and reduce problems like stunting and wasting.
The quality and inspection system of food and nutritional items provided to children and mothers in Anganwadi centers will be made more effective.
Greater emphasis will be given to improving the quality of basic education for children from the primary level. It has been emphasized that teachers should focus fully on teaching and the core curriculum of education.
‘Prayas’ is an important step towards building a healthy, well-educated and empowered society through health, nutrition and quality education.
