BHUBANESWAR: Who gifted Rs 33 lakh Ford Endeavour SUV Car to Honeytrap blackmailer Archana Nag? Big Question now for Enforcement Directorate(ED), sources said.
Apart from the bank transactions and other financial deals between Archana and her associates, the ED is searching for the person who had gifted the Rs 33 lakh Ford Endeavour SUV car to Archana.
Besides, the sleuths of the ED are verifying the records of other vehicles possessed by Archana and her hubby Jagabandhu Chand. The mystery behind the construction of Archana’s palatial buildings in Bhubaneswar and Kalahandi is also under ED’s ambit of investigation.
In course of investigation, the ED has got significant leads on the illegal assets and money laundering of Archana Nag.
Odia film producer Akshay Parija and builder and hotel owner Amiyakant Das appeared before the agency on Tuesday. Amiyakant Das, who involved in hotel business, had deposited Rs 10 lakh in bank accounts of Archana Nag and her husband Jagabandhu Chand in the financial year 2021-22.
The ED had earlier summoned Parija based on a complaint he had filed against Archana and her associate Shradhanjali to record his statement but he couldn’t appear owing to health issues after returning from Bangkok.
At the same time, Shradhanjali, an aide of Archana has been summoned. She has been asked to appear personally on Wednesday. Similarly, Khageswar Patra who is on ED’s remand in connection with transferring more than Rs 50 lakh to Archana’s bank account will remain in ED’s custody for further questioning.
The ED officers have already traced Rs 2.5 crore deposits in the bank accounts of Archana and Jagabandhu between 2017 and 2022. She allegedly amassed over Rs 50 crore along with her husband between 2018 and 2022 by blackmailing and threatening some politicians and rich people.
Arachana and her husband , Jagabandhu were booked under Sections 341, 328, 324, 354 – C, 370, 386/387/388, 389, 419/420, 465, 506, 120 – B of IPC and Section 66 -E, 67 of IT Act and presently lodged at Jharpada Special Jail.
While Archana is accused of extorting lakhs of rupees from politicians, businessmen and influential persons by blackmailing them with videos of intimate moments between her and them, Jagabandhu had alleged involvement in the offence. They possess over Rs 40 crore assets.
The couple have reared a white horse and costly dogs in her alishan bungalow at Satya Vihar in the capital city here. Archana is also a dog lover. She has kept dogs of high breeds. She was spending lakhs of rupees for feeding the horse and the dogs. The Alishan Bungalow of Archana has beds, sofa sets and other furniture worth lakhs of rupees. Besides, she also owns costly cars like BMW, Suzuki Swift and Mahindra Thar.
