BHUBANESWAR:Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan has said that he does not understand why Opposition Leader Shri Naveen Patnaik is expressing fear and surprise over a positive possibility of increasing Odisha’s representation in Parliament by about 50 percent.
On the social media platform ‘X’, Shri Pradhan mentioned that the statement given to the media by the leader of the opposition party of Odisha Shri Naveen Patnaik is shocking. The statements of a person like him are creating illusion in the minds of the people of Odisha. The things he has said are baseless and seem ridiculous. The government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ensured 33 percent reservation for women in Parliament and Legislative Assembly through the ‘Nari Shakti Bandhan Act’.Shri Pradhan said that while discussing the 131st Constitutional Amendment Bill in Parliament on the 16th and 17th, the Honorable Home Minister Shri Amit Shah had clarified that the representation of Odisha, including all the states of the country, will increase by 50 percent.
As a result, the number of Lok Sabha seats in Odisha will increase from 21 to 32 and at least 11 women will get the opportunity to represent Odisha as new MPs. Currently, Odisha’s representation in the Lok Sabha seats of the country is 3.87 percent, but if this seat is increased, it will increase to 3.91 percent, which will strengthen Odisha’s role at the national level. Truthful information is expected from a person like Naveen Babu. Shri Pradhan expressed the hope that if factual truth is revealed without spreading lies, the real interest of Odisha will be achieved.
