Vigilance Traps Dr Sanjib Kumar Kar,  Opthalmologist,  District Headquarters Hospital in Subarnapur

On Monday Dr Sanjib Kumar Kar, Opthalmologist, District Head Quarters Hospital, Subarnapur has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting bribe Rs.5,500/- from a Complainant for conducting cataract surgery of his uncle.

BHUBANESWAR:  On Monday Dr Sanjib Kumar Kar,  Opthalmologist,  District Head Quarters Hospital, Subarnapur has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting bribe Rs.5,500/- from a Complainant for conducting cataract surgery of his uncle.

The said surgery is done free of cost in Govt. Hospitals across the State. In spite of this, Dr. Kar was demanding bribe from patients for doing the surgery. The complainant, being a poor man, requested Dr.Kar several times to do the cataract surgery of his uncle, who is an ailing old man and an octogenarian, but he insisted on the bribe amount to be paid before the surgery. Finding no other way, the complt informed to the Vigilance Authority about the matter. Today, Dr.Kar was nabbed by the Vigilance team while accepting bribe from the complainant.

The entire bribe money has been recovered from accused Dr. Kar and seized. Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at 3 locations of Dr.Kar in Bolangir and Subarnapur districts. In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance PS Case No 30 dt. 26.11.2023 u/s 7 P.C. Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Dr. Sanjib Ku. Kar.
