BHUBANESWAR: Vedanta Ltd’s Subsidiary BALCO emerges top bidder for Karlapat Bauxite Block in Kalahandi in Odisha with Record 175 Percent Premium.
Naveen Jindal-backed Powercem, Adani Group, Reliance Industries, Hindalco Industries, Vedanta Aluminium and Coal India were among the Companies Bidding aggressively while Vedanta Ltd’s Subsidiary BALCO emerges top bidder for Karlapat Bauxite Block in Kalahandi in Odisha with Record 175 Percent Premium.
The premium of online auction for Karlapat Bauxite Block which was started at 108.00 percent while closed at 175 percent.
The Karlapat bauxite block (Karlapat-Pollingpadar) is a major virgin bauxite deposit in Odisha’s Kalahandi district.
It holds an estimated 207 million tonnes of reserves and has drawn intense competitive bidding from major Indian industrial titans.
Lies adjacent to the Karlapat Wildlife Sanctuary, leading to boundary modifications and environmental scrutiny over mining proximity to local wildlife corridors.
It is among 11 virgin mineral blocks offered by the Odisha government in the current auction round. According to the Directorate of Geology, Government of Odisha, the block contains an estimated 207 million tonnes of bauxite resources, comprising 153 million tonnes of proved reserves and 54 million tonnes of possible reserves.
Spread across a plateau of around 9.6 square kilometres, the deposit has an average ore thickness of nearly 12 metres. Geological data indicate an average alumina content of about 45.2 per cent with low reactive silica, making the ore suitable for alumina production through the Bayer process.
Meanwhile ,Coal India Ltd , under the Ministry of Coal, has emerged as the preferred bidder for the Gadadharpur Iron Ore Block in Odisha, marking a key step in CIL’s strategy to diversify beyond coal.
The Odisha government has declared CIL the preferred bidder for the Gadadharpur block in Kendujhar district through an auction process which began at 114.00 Percent. The block is estimated to hold iron ore resources of 288 million tonnes.
The company has agreed to pay an auction premium of 114.05 per cent of the value of minerals dispatched to the state government. The Gadadharpur block is at the G3 exploration stage, which means it requires further exploration.
