Union PNG-Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan holds talks with Satya S Tripathi

BHUBANESWAR/ NEW DELHI: Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Steel and Petroleum & Natural Gas held productive discussion on VC with Satya S. Tripathi, Asst. SG and Head of the New York office of the UN Environment Programme in the presence of officials from sectoral Ministries, captains of banking institutions & stakeholders from the bio-energy value chain, to catalyse the bio-energy potential of India.

“Held a meeting with Shri Satya S. Tripathi, Asst. SG and Head of the New York office of the UN Environment Programme in the presence of officials from sectoral Ministries, captains of banking institutions & stakeholders from the bio-energy value chain, to catalyse the bio-energy potential of India,” said Pradhan.  “We had meaningful discussions on unlocking the opportunities in the Compressed Bio Gas #CBG, bio-ethanol, bio-fertilisers and bio-energy value chain and scaling up efforts to make India a world leader in the waste-to-energy program,” the Union Minister said.

“Harnessing the full potential of #biofuels, including GOIs initiative of seting up 5000 CBG plants across India in a phased manner, will kick start a circular economy in the biofuel sector, create jobs, promote development and further the goal of #AatmaNirbharBharat.Conversion of agri-waste and other residues to energy will also have a transformational impact on our air-quality, public health and rural economy.Outcomes from today’s discussions will help in providing further impetus to the waste-to-energy program and in establishing best business models and making available low-cost finance to make it a win-win situation for all stakeholders, including our farmers and entrepreneurs, he added.
