BHUBANESWAR:Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan today visited the ‘Paik Urpshak Smaaraki’ site at Barunei, Khorda district and discussed the progress of the project work with the officials in charge.
Union Minister Shri Pradhan said that the armed uprising against the British rule led by Bakshi Jagabandhu in 1817 is a golden chapter in the history of India’s freedom struggle. It is a unique symbol of the pride, selflessness and glory of the Odia nation. The sacrifices of the heroes of this land inspired the entire country to fight for freedom.
This magnificent memorial, being built at the foot of the Barunai hill, will represent the bravery and victory of the Odia nation in the whole world for centuries to come. This project, which will remain a silent witness to the indomitable courage of Odisha, will always inspire our youth with its culture and patriotism in the coming days. Shri Pradhan said that the double engine government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is always committed to giving a proper introduction to the glorious history of Odisha in the world.
