BHUBANESWAR:Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan held a substantive and constructive discussion with Meghalaya Chief Minister Shri Conrad Sangma on reforms in the country’s education system and the successful implementation of the ‘National Education Policy’.
In this meeting, the Union Minister Shri Pradhan especially praised the education model of the Meghalaya Chief Minister. He said that the efforts of the Chief Minister Shri Sangma to integrate sports, physical education, horticulture and local livelihood opportunities with formal education in Meghalaya are a symbol of a holistic and cultural approach. He also welcomed the emphasis given by the Chief Minister on improving the educational outcomes in the state and strengthening primary education through the local mother tongues ‘Khasi’ and ‘Garo’. The Union Minister emphasized on integrating traditional knowledge with modern subjects like Artificial Intelligence and Computational Thinking in teaching to fulfill the aspirations of the youth. Shri Pradhan said that such a futuristic and inclusive effort of the Meghalaya Chief Minister will realize the vision of ‘Developed India 2047’ and will create a strong pillar in building a capable, confident and empowered generation.
Along with this, Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan also discussed the successful implementation of the National Education Policy with Dr. Shilpi Sahu, Chairperson, SAI International Education Group. In this meeting, the issues of strengthening the basic education of students, making education more skill-based, promoting Indian languages and increasing social participation in the education system were discussed. In addition, sensitive issues like maintaining student nutrition and fee transparency in educational institutions were also discussed. The main objective of the discussion was to create a rich education system that believes in Indian values and prepares students for global opportunities, the Union Minister informed.
