BHUBANESWAR:  With all poll surveys predicting that BJP will increase its vote share in Odisha and would win around 13 to 14 Lok Sabha seats and an impressive figure,  the Saffron Party may register in Assembly seats in 2024 elections , the BJD and its spin doctors are working overtime to defend Modi wave.

As per the plan, BJD fielded Supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in 2 Assembly seats including Hinjli in Ganjam and from Kantabanji in Balangir.

BJD earlier targeted to field Patnaik from Rairakhol in Sambalpur to check Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and help Party’s nominee and organization general secretary Pranab Prakash Das while it has changed its stand and now finalised second seat for Patnaik in Balangir, another major district in western Odisha, where BJD has a very good position in the district.

Patnaik will contest from Kantabanji.  In 2019, Naveen Patnaik had contested from Bijepur in Bargarh apart from Hinjli in Ganjam district. Patnaik had won both the seats.

BJD is anticipating that Patnaik’s candidature from Balangir, may impact on neighbouring districts and on its Lok Sabha and Assembly seats, where BJP has a strong presence and bordering States like Chhattisgarh is also have a BJP Government.
