MUMBAI:From the makers A Journey of Thousand Miles – Peacekeepers, documentary that won many prestigious awards in international film festivals, The Last Resort is Bollywood’s new entry to the Sci-Fi genre. Produced by Irfan Izhar under the banner of Entertainment Box and co-produced by Lap Up Entertainment in association with Filmy Keeda Productions, this suspense thriller is directed by the multi-talented entertainer, Saugat Bhattacharya. Brijendra Kala, Reecha Sinha, Vaishnavi Macdonald, and Saugat Bhattacharya are names in the main cast.
No room for leisure in The Last Resort, only brave souls can stay there. The hair-raising thriller revolves around the time loop plot and time travel themes. The Sci-Fi is written by Ajit Jagtap, Bollywood’s promising new voice in Thriller and Sci-fi genre, and directed by Saugat Bhattacharya, a filmmaker who has created a niche in short formats has shifted orbits to direct long formats. Now, when he teams up with a strong cast like Brijendra Kala, Reecha Sinha, Vaishnavi Macdonald, and himself, something splendid is going to happen in the OTT world.
Producer Irfan Izhar who had already earned big laurel for his internationally acclaimed documentary, A Journey of Thousand Miles – Peacekeepers, which also bagged the Best Documentary Award at Atlanta Film Festival and Best Humanitarian Award at River Run Film Festival, is embarking on Bollywood with The Last Resort.
While shedding light on his first movie in India, Irfan said, “The Last Resort is an experience of ensuring big-budget entertainment to the audience with a small budget movie. We kept the focus on content quality rather than content appeal that usually relies on exorbitant cast and locations. As per my exposure to international cinema, if the content has quality it will evidently attract the audience irrespective of the budget of the movie.”
Reecha Sinha, known for playing lead role in “Dongri Ka Raja” and a pivotal character in “Milan Talkies” a film directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, is playing the central role in The Last Resort. While the seasoned and versatile Bollywood actor, Brijendra Kala, earlier seen in many successful movies such as Haasil, Jab We Met, Mithya, Agneepath, Paan Singh Tomar, Ankhon Dekhi, PK, Tubelight and Batti Gul Meter Chalu, playing the role of Reecha’s father in this movie. Saugat Bhattacharya, who has created a unique niche in short format, is shifting to long formats with The Last Resort. Besides, Saugat is playing a very powerful role in this movie. Vaishnavi Macdonald, famous Hindi and Telugu actress and a popular face on television is also giving strength to The Last Resort with her poignant performace.
The Last Resort will be screened worldwide on the OTT platform Biiggbang on November 19th.
