BHUBANESWAR: On Wednesday, Sujit Kumar Mohanta, SI of Police, Mahulpali PS, in Sambalpur was nabbed by Odisha Vigilance while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000/- from the complaint to help in a miscellaneous case registered against him in the PS. Further Rs.1,55,700 was seized from his rest room at the PS.
The SI had joined Police Service in 2021 following direct recruitment as SI. In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance PS Case No 21/2026 u/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act has been registered. Investigation continuing.
