SUBARNAPUR/BHUBANESWAR:On 10.11.2025 about 09.30 P.M, based on a reliable
information from confidential sources regarding transportation of Ganja
by one Bhagaban Sahu of village Sankartikra under Rampur PS area of
Subarnapur district, on the direction of SP, Subarnapur Rampur Police
made strategic plan to nab the culprits and seized the narcotic (Ganja)
along with the carrier vehicles.
It was also learnt that the said Ganja was being transported by 2 four wheelers vehicles (1- Black Colour Mahindra Thar (affixed Regd. No.OD 05 BN 5943 and 2- One white Colour
Maruti Suzuki Car (affixed Regd. No. OD 24 6296) were carrying the said Ganja from Boudh district side to his house by accused Bhagaban Sahu and his associates for further transportation in such illegal business.
Though Police team of Rampur Police detected the above vehicles near
Andharibanji village road but both the vehicles managed to escape in a
high speed to their destination house. However, the Police team followed
and detected both the vehicles in front of the house of accused Bhagaban
Sahu at village Sankartikra. Seeing Police the accused Bhagaban Sahu
and his associates namely Sangram Patra and one CCL of village
Andharibanji and Deben Rajput of Madhya Pradesh attempted to flee
away from the spot but they were apprehended. Being asked though they
prevaricated but confessed to have unloaded about 1.4 quintal of Ganja
to his house from the both the vehicles in order to avoid apprehension in
Ganja case. On that, the spot house where Ganja was concealed by the
accused persons guarded and thereafter following the rules and
provisions of NDPS Act, search made in the house of the accused
Bhagaban Sahu where he was staying with his family members since
long. During search in presence of Executive Magistrate and independent
witnesses.
Altogether 05 big bags containing 137 smaller packets and another bag containing unwrapped Ganja weighing 1.44 quintals of Ganja seized. In this case, both the carrier vehicles also seized at the spot house.
The approximate value of the seized Ganja as per the Govt. valuation is
Rs.14,40,050/-. In this connection a case vide Rampur 186 Dt.11.11.2025 U /s- 20(b)(ii)(C) /25/29 NDPS ACT has been registered and Inspector Padmasini Meher, IIC Rampur PS is investigating the case to find more details about the culprits and source of ganja.
Besides the above on 09.11.2025, more than 02 Quintal 49 KG 610 Grams (2.5 Quintals approx.). Ganja was seized vide Dunguripali PS Case No.219 Dt.10.11.2025 U/s-20(b)(ii)C/29 NDPS Act.
Therefore, from the 1st of this month till today, a total of 05 cases have been registered in which 4 quintals 53 kg 970 grams of ganja have been seized. The govt. value of the said Ganja is 45,39,700 and the market price is 4,53,97,000. In these 05 Ganja cases, 12 accused persons, 02 two-wheelers, 05 four-wheelers and 09 mobile phones have also been
seized.
