BHUBANESWAR:Spiritualist poet Saint Shiromani Guru Ravi Das was a symbol of a society free from casteism in the 15th to 16th centuries. While walking the path of spirituality and devotion, Saint Ravi Das emphasized on karma. Apart from being a great saint and poet, he was a social reformer and a follower of God. He constantly made efforts to remove untouchability, discrimination, caste, etc. from the society. On the call of the famous Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the “Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Samaras Sankalp Abhiyan” will be celebrated across the country from 29 July 2026 (Guru Purnima) to 20 February 2027 (Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Jayanti) to mark the 650th birth anniversary of Saint Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj.
In this regard, a state-level workshop of ‘Samaras Sankalp Abhiyan’ was held at the state office today. A detailed discussion was held on how to reach everyone with the thoughts and guidance given by Sant Ravi Das on the occasion of his birth anniversary. The workshop was held to prepare a roadmap and discuss in detail. The campaign will be launched from Kashi, the birthplace of Guru Ravidas ji.
Soil will be brought in pots from his birthplace and taken to various states of the country. That soil will be filled in different pots and taken to all the mandals of the state. Various religious, social, cultural and public relations programs will be organized under this campaign. A large number of saints will participate in this. The life, philosophy, equality, devotion, service, social justice and humanity of Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj will be widely publicized throughout the country. Emphasis was placed on how BJP workers can reach out to people living in the lower rungs of society.
The workshop, chaired by State President and Rajya Sabha MP Shri Manmohan Samal, was attended by Central Committee Coordinator and former MP Mrs. Sunita Duggal, Minister Nityanand Gand, Minister Suryavansi Suraj, Mukesh Mahaling, Jajpur MP Rabinarayan Behera, MLA Raghunath Jagdala, Agasti Behera, State General Secretary Sharada Prasad Satapathy, State Secretary Saroj Kar, Scheduled Caste Morcha State President Baidhar Mallick, Scheduled Caste Morcha Central Executive Member Sushant Kumar Mallick and Scheduled Caste Morcha State Secretary, State Toli, District President and District Toli members.
