SOA’s Mega Blood Donation Week Concludes

BHUBANESWAR: A mega blood donation week organised at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) concluded on Friday coinciding with the NSS Day even as SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar Mahapatra described donation of blood as a social responsibility.

“Unless we can develop an attitude of service, all our activities will be without substance,” Prof. (Dr.) Mahapatra said while addressing the valedictory function organised at the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, SOA’s faculty of medicine, here.

The program was jointly organised by the SOA NSS bureau, IMS and SUM Hospital and SOA Wellness Center.

Addressing the function, Prof. (Dr.) Gangadhar Sahu, Dean of IMS and SUM Hospital, underlined the importance of conserving the collected blood with proper care in the blood bank. The program was also addressed by Prof. Girija Nandini Kanungo, Head of the Blood Bank in the hospital.

Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean (Students’ Welfare), said that a mega blood donation camp would be organised in the university in the near future.

Prof. Nachieketa Sharma, Director, University Outreach Program and Program Coordinator of NSS, outlined the activities of the NSS bureau conducted over the last six months. Blood donors were presented with citations on the occasion. Dr. Saurjya R. Das, NSS Program Officer, proposed the vote of thanks. The NSS Program Coordinators Prof. Saroj Kumar Mohanty, Dr. Kamal Kumar Mahanta and Dr. Sobhan Patnaik were present.
