PURI/BHUBANESWAR: Shree Jagannath Temple Administration Chief Administrator, Dr Krishan Kumar has written a letter to Commissioner –cum Secretary, Information and Public Relations Department, Sanjay Singh to make necessary arrangements for live telecast and webcast of Snana Yatra(Bathing Ceremony) of Lord Jagannath and his Siblings at pilgrimage city of Puri in Odisha on June 5.

“I am to bring your kind notice that, this year Snana Yatra of Lord Shree Jagannath will be held on June 5. The rituals will be performed inside the Temple premises at the Snana Mandap(Bathing Pandal). Since it’s a general practice that TV Broadcasters do live telecast of Snana Yatra on their respective channels, which is very popular amongst devotees of the Lord,” SJTA Chief Dr Kumar wrote to I&PR Secretary Singh.

“This year due to COVID-19 Pandemic and nationwide lockdown stipulations, entry of general public to the Jagannath Temple for Darsan has been restricted. Further, social distancing guidelines also needs to be followed and there will also be a number of restrictions in front of Temple to ensure strict adherence to COVID-19 management guidelines,” the letter said.

Keeping this mind, it is proposed that I&PR Department make necessary arrangements for live telecast and webcast of the rituals. The feed of live telecast may be shared with all channels and individual channels will not be allowed to cover the event, it said. For conducting this from SJTA office, Subhransu Sekhar Pandhi(7008810198) will be the nodal officer, the letter ended.
