BHUBANESWAR/KENDRAPARA: On Tuesday, Siba Mallick, OAS, Tahsildar, Mahakalpada, Dist-Kendrapara has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe Rs.20,000/- from a complainant for helping in eviction of an illegal structure over Govt. land obstructing the passage to his (complainant’s) house.
In this connection, the Complt. had filed an encroachment case in the year 2024. Following this, the RI concerned had submitted a report in April 2024 to Tahasildar Mahakalpada confirming forcible encroachment of govt land by some miscreants blocking the common road. Since then, the complt. met Sri Mallick, the competent authority to evict illegal encroachment, several times requesting for help in removing the illegal encroachment blocking his access.
However, Sri Mallick, Tahasildar demanded bribe Rs.20,000/- from the Complaint. for the purpose, stating that the file would be kept pending for years otherwise. Left with no other option, the Complt. reported the matter to Vigilance authorities. Based on this, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Sri Mallick today in his rest room inside Tahasil Office *while taking the bribe Rs.20,000/- from the Complt. The entire bribe money amounting to Rs.20,000/- has been recovered and seized from the possession of Sri Mallick, Tahasildar*.
