BHUBANESWAR:Sambalpur MP Shri Dharmendra Pradhan has expressed concern over the deplorable condition of National Highway No. 55, known as the major transport and logistics corridor of Odisha. He has written a letter to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari, requesting his personal intervention for the immediate maintenance or repair of this important highway and to resolve the problem of potholes.

The MP Shri Pradhan has pointed out in his letter that NH-55 connecting Sambalpur, Angul and Cuttack is one of the main lifelines of the state. But due to incessant rains and heavy traffic, large potholes have formed at various places and the road has been damaged at some places. As a result, serious problems are being created in the movement of passengers and goods. Due to this, the local people and regular commuters are facing great difficulties.

The road condition has become even worse due to the recent monsoon rains and waterlogging. The presence of waterlogged areas makes it difficult to identify deep potholes. The poor condition of the road has increased the risk of road accidents and has hampered movement and communication. Keeping in mind the importance of this main road for connecting the western and coastal parts of Odisha and for transporting essential goods, urgent work is required.

Taking this sensitive issue seriously at a personal level, Shri Pradhan has requested the Union Minister Shri Gadkari to direct the concerned authorities to immediately repair and resolve the pothole problem of the Sambalpur-Cuttack road. He said that this step will ensure safe and secure travel for the general public.
