BHUBANESWAR:The Revenue and Disaster Management Department has issued a public notice regarding the correction of English spelling according to the Odia pronunciation in various parts of the state.
Through a public notice issued earlier by the department, suggestions and proposals were invited from the public and public representatives for the restoration of the original Odia names of various districts, district headquarters, sub-districts, tehsils and blocks of the state if the official English names are corruptions of the original Odia names.
In this regard, many suggestions and proposals have been received from the esteemed public representatives and ordinary citizens of the state. All the suggestions received were reviewed by a committee formed under the chairmanship of Padma Bhushan Dr. Pratibha Roy, a distinguished Odia writer, and the recommended proposals have been presented for public information and comments and suggestions have been invited.
Public representatives and the public are requested to send their views and well-considered suggestions on the above proposals within one month from April 22nd to the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Lok Seva Bhawan, Bhubaneswar through letter or e-mail: isbdr-rev.od@od.gov.in or revsec.od@od.gov.in .
