PURI/BHUBANESWAR:In its sustained endeavour to promote financial literacy and consumer awareness, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Bhubaneswar, organized a special Financial Awareness Programme for farmers, senior citizens, and artisans at Raghurajpur in Puri district on May 6, 2026.
The programme was graced by Dr. Sarada Prasan Mohanty, Regional Director, RBI Bhubaneswar; Smt. Anita Pattnaik, General Manager, RBI; Shri Bhagwat Singh Bhakuni, Zonal Head, UCO Bank; and Shri Anil Bhoi, Lead District Manager, Puri.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mohanty elaborated on the evolving nature of cyber frauds and urged participants to remain vigilant while undertaking digital transactions. He also called upon bank officials to ensure that banking processes are simplified and customer-centric, particularly for rural and elderly customers.
Smt. Pattnaik outlined the key initiatives undertaken by the Reserve Bank of India to deepen financial literacy and inclusion across Odisha, with special emphasis on vulnerable segments. Shri Bhakuni delivered the welcome address, reiterating UCO Bank’s commitment to financial awareness and outreach.
Nearly 100 participants from Raghurajpur and neighbouring areas attended the programme. They were briefed on various banking services and also shared challenges encountered during routine transactions. To reinforce learning, RBI distributed financial awareness booklets and informational pamphlets on nomination facilities, unclaimed deposits, periodic re-KYC, and safeguards against cyber fraud.
Branch managers of all banks operating in the panchayat also participated, facilitating direct interaction and grievance redressal for attendees.
The programme reaffirmed RBI’s commitment to building a financially aware and empowered society through targeted outreach and collaborative engagement with stakeholders.
