PURI:The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) annually makes its presence felt during this grand Rath Yatra event, driven by a spirit of security and service. Volunteers are engaged in various service activities, including the operation of ambulances, the Shubh Panchang Mela, and the protection of devotees from crowds during the festival.
This year, approximately 1,800 volunteers arrived to provide services. These included 600 volunteers for ambulance crews, 400 for sanitation, 40 for two ambulance services, 50 for drinking water services at 10 locations, 50 for water spraying at 10 locations, and 200 volunteers for mobile patient service.
In addition, four doctors, two compounders, and four assistants were engaged in patient service. Eighty volunteers managed 10 stretchers for injured devotees. The inaugural session was attended by Vighna Gopal, Odisha East Provincial Sanghchalak Samir Mahanthy, and Area Service Chief Deepak Rout.
