BARIPADA/BARBIL/BHUBANESWAR: With Mining lease expiring on March 31, 2020 and after paying the fine amount imposed by the Central Empowered Committee of the Supreme Court following Justice MB Shah Commission’s report, Lal Trade Agencies Pvt Ltd and Steer Overseas Pvt Ltd run Misra Group by Kolkata based Raj Kumar Misra and Jagdish Misra, , have been making no stone unturned to extract minerals amounting crores illegally till its extended lease period ends last year. Badampahar Iron Ore mines located in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha causing environmental pollution.
Apart from Raj Kumar Misra, Jagadish Misra,Soham Misra and Sourav Misra also part of the Group.Reports from Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj and Joda, Barbil and Koira ranges in Sundargarh and Keonjhar said, , rampant illegal mining and illegal transportation going on rapidly. Reports said mining activities were going on without requisite forest and environmental clearance.
CBI and ED had few years back, had conducted raids at Steer Overseas Ltd and Lal Trade Agency in Kolkata and Bhubaneswar but the company is yet to learn a lesson from it, said an Industry Watcher. The Company has been involved in illegal import and export iron ore business and violated many statutory clearances after the Odisha Government extended the lease period to March 31, 2020.
Locals have been opposing the company since long and they further alleged that Group, which runs mines plant, severely violating Forest and Environment laws and mines and minerals explorations and transportation acts in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. The Company, which mostly operates in Odisha, West Bengal and Jharkhand, looted crores of rupees of mines and minerals from Mayurbhanj-Sundargarh-Koenjhar mining belt of Odisha.
A fresh CBI raid at Rairangpur, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata would unearth illegal mining work of th company after Odisha Government extended its lease period till March 31, 2010, said an activists in Bhubaneswar.
The Misra Group is being involved in Iron Ore mining, manufacturing of Sponge Iron – DRI International Trading of Iron-Ore & Coal, Agriculture & Cold Storage Facilities, Infrastructure & Real Estate, Automobiles and Media & Entertainment, mostly mining sector is running illegally.
“We demand immediate CBI and ED raids at Company offices located in Baripada and Bhubaneswar,” said an activists in Bhubaneswar. He alleged that Jagdish Misra and Raj Kumar Misra looted mineral worth crores of rupees in Odisha.
