KORAPUT: A police Inspector sustained critical injuries while allegedly attempting to end his life using a service revolver in Police Headquarters Office in Koraput district on Wednesday.
The Inspector has been identified as Narendra Biswal. According to the information, the officers and staff in the office heard a gunshot. Soon, they went to the location and saw Narendra wounded with bullet injuries.
Narendra was immediately rushed to the Saheed Laxman Nayak Hospital for treatment. As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to a hospital in Visakhapatnam for further treatment.
The reason behind Narendra taking such a step is yet to be known by the police. A probe is on into the matter.
