Panic grips after Ajmer-Puri Express Catches Fire in Odisha

ANGUL/PURI: Panic was on Thursday gripped after he engine of Ajmer-Puri Express caught fire near Handapa station in Angul district of Odisha on Thursday, but there was no report of any casualty.

According to sources, no one was hurt as the engine was immediately detached from the train and fire brigade was called which swung into action to douse the flame. However, any damage to the property is  yet to be ascertained. The train was detained at  Handapa Station for 1 hour 25 minutes.

Station Manager of Handapa Station between Boinda and Saragipali Stations in Angul-Sambalpur Railway Section under Sambalpur Division of ECoR detected the suspected smoke in the Engine of 18422 Ajmer-Puri Express at about 1:15 PM today, sources said.

The exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained and the train left for its destination after fire personnel douse the flames, informed
