OMC Invites RFP to develop Mining Operations at Khandbandh – Banspani Iron Ore Mines in Keonjhar

BHUBANESWAR/BARBIL/KOIRA:  State owned Odisha Mining Corporation has invited two requests for proposal (RFP) from reputed business partners to develop mining operations at the Khandbandh and Banspani iron ore mines in Odisha’s Keonjhar district.

The last date for bid submission is 17 November 2021. The contract period for development of operations is five years, which may be extended by another five years on a yearly basis at the sole discretion of OMC.

Balwant Singh, MD, OMC along with Director (Personnel), Director (Operations) & senior officials visited Guali Iron Ore mines in Keonjhar and reviewed present status of mining operations. The team instructed officials to ramp up iron ore production with strict adherence to safety & environment norms. The team also interacted with the newly joined employees & highlighted the way forward for the company & encouraged them to aim for higher goals.

OMC, a gold category State PSU, is  also taking steps for augmentation of its production at the Kurmitar iron ore mines in the Koira region in  Sundargarh. Balwant Singh, Managing Director, OMC along with Director (Personnel), Director (Operations) and senior officials visited Kurmitar iron ore mines in the Koira region. The team reviewed the present status of mining operations & assessed the readiness of Mine Developer cum Operator (MDO) for enhanced production capacity.

The mineral block has a reserve of 188.19 Million Tonne and mining scheme has been approved for production of 6 million tonne per annum of iron ore, which is valid upto 2024-25, sources said. The OMC has also got consent to operate for 3 million tonne per annum, which is valid up to March, 2022. And, EC has been granted for production of 6 MTPA iron ore up to 28 April 2035.
