Odisha Speaker sends missive over vacancy of Padmapur Assembly Seat to ECI

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Assembly on Thursday issued a notification regarding vacancy of Padmapur assembly constituency following the death of elected legislator Bijay Ranjan Singh Bariha, who died at 64.

Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukh expressed condolences over the death of the law maker following which Assembly secretary Dasarathy Satpathy issued the notification which was published in the Odisha Gazette.

The copy of the notification has been sent to the Chief Election Commission, chief electoral officer.

Meanwhile, the process for the filing of nomination for the by-election to the Dhamnagar Assembly segment will begin from Friday and will end on October 14.

The scrutiny of the papers will be held on October 15 while candidates desiring to withdraw can do the same by October 17.Voting will take place on November 3 and counting on November 6.
