Odisha may start unlock process after Raja Festival

BHUBANESWAR: With dateline for extended lockdown ending by June 17 morning, Odisha Government is expected to start unlock process after the Odia festival Raja Utvav.

Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra on Friday said  that  the infection rate is declining and the situation coming under control and also  the number of daily cases as well as active cases is decreasing. Mishra said, the Government may begin an unlock process in the districts where the infection rate is declining.

And surveillance will be tightened in the districts where the numbers of cases are on the rise. The infection rate still remains high in districts like Khordha, Cuttack, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Baleswar, Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh, he added.

Even though the Covid-19 positive cases in the State on Friday dipped below the 6,000-mark, the death toll continued to hover above 40. On the day, 43 more patients succumbed to the disease in 17 districts, with which the total death toll mounted to 3,210.
