BHUBANESWAR:The state BJP has welcomed the potential renewable energy investment proposals worth Rs 1.17 lakh crore for Odisha at the ‘India Renewable Energy Summit and Exhibition-2026’ held in New Delhi. The agreements signed with 18 companies on this occasion will give a new dimension to Odisha’s energy security, industrial development and employment opportunities. State BJP spokesperson Satyabrat Panda has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi and Deputy Chief Minister and Power Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo for this initiative.
Shri Panda said that the proposed projects have a potential capacity addition of about 11,742 MW. Investments in areas like pumped storage hydropower, solar and wind power, battery storage, green hydrogen and green data centers can make Odisha’s economy more diversified and competitive. The production of solar and wind power is not always the same. Hence, the emphasis on energy conservation and a robust power network is a highlight of this scheme. The sanction of Rs 15,948 crore for modernization and expansion of the transmission system under the Chief Minister’s Energy Development Scheme will strengthen this preparation.
The target of meeting 74 percent of the installed power capacity of the state from non-fossil sources and at least 33 percent of the power consumption of industries from green energy at competitive prices by 2047 is welcome. Paradip, Dhamra and Gopalpur ports can combine this transformation with commercial opportunities. Gridcore will lead research, technology and skill development in collaboration with IIT Bhubaneswar and other expert institutions. By training local youth and connecting small enterprises with the supply and service opportunities of these green projects, the benefits of development will reach more families. Modi ji’s clean energy vision and the investment-oriented initiatives of the Mohan government have brought great opportunities for Odisha. Our priority is to convert these proposals into real projects through timely approvals, environmentally sound implementation and regular reviews, said Shri Panda.
Odisha’s economy was traditionally heavily dependent on “Mining and Excavation”. But today, due to the well-thought-out policies and development thinking of the BJP government, Odisha is rapidly moving towards ‘Mines to Microchips’ and high technology. In this sequence, such a huge investment in the renewable energy sector has added a golden chapter to the Odisha economy. This “Clean Energy Project” of Odisha will play an important role in taking forward the vision of “Developed India 2047” and “Prosperous Odisha-2036”. Shri Panda expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister and the state government on behalf of the state BJP for creating an investor-friendly environment in the state and winning the trust of investors.
