BHUBANESWAR: Economic Offences Wing, Bhubaneswar has arrested accused Deepak Kumar Chhotray of Delanga of Puri on 31.01.2024 from Bhubaneswar in EOW PS Case No.02 dt.25.01.2024 U/s 420/467/468/471/120-B IPC rw Sec.6 OPID Act, 2011. He is being forwarded to the Hon’ble Designated Court under OPID, Cuttack today i.e. on 01.02.2024.
The above referred case has been registered on the written allegation of Sri Anil Kumar Panda that he along with 34 others was cheated by the MD of builder Company M/s GLF Infratech Pvt Ltd that promised them to provide with plots in its residential projects at MouzaPatrapada, Bhubaneswar. After collecting different amounts from the prospective buyers, the MD of the Company requested the prospective buyers that as a land could not be arranged at Patrapada, they would be given flats at Mouza-Gadakana.
When the buyers agreed to it, the MD of the Company collected Rs.12 lakhs from each of the prospective buyers numbering to 35 during the period 2016-19 to provide flats. But, till date the accused Company did not provide any plot/flat to the victim buyers nor did it return the invested amount.
Investigation revealed that the arrested accused Deepak Kumar Chhotray, MD of M/s GLF Infratech Pvt. Ltd. without having any land falsely promised 35 prospective buyers to provide them with plots/flats at Patrapada in the year 2016. Accordingly, one MoU was signed by the accused builder and the buyers.
After collecting considerable amounts, the accused MD made the buyers to agree to settle in its new Project at Gadakana as no land could be arranged at VillPatrapada. Once, the buyers agreed to accommodate in the new Project of the Company, the accused MD collected Rs.12 lakhs each from intending buyers by the year 2019.
But, till today, the accused Company and its MD neither provided any flat/plot nor returned the invested amount to the buyers who are running from pillar to post to get back their invested amount. Even, no land has been acquired by the builder for construction of residential flats till today. The builder Company and its MD thus cheated more than Rs.4 Crores from the intending buyers by executing false documents. Many incriminating documents including the money receipts and agreements have been seized from the possession of the arrested MD Deepak Kumar Chhotray. The investigation of the case is on.
