Odisha DGP reviews security situations in Leftwing Insurgency hit areas

SUNABEDA/BHUBANESWAR/CUTTACK: Odisha DGP Abhay on Saturday paid a visit to the leftwing insurgency hit South-Western and Southern police ranges and held a meeting with SPs of 6 Districts at SW headquarters in Koraput.

It was the first visit of DGP Abhay to any district after assuming the charge as Director General of Police (DGP) and head of police force in Odisha.

According to sources, Abhay held a meeting regarding anti-Maoists operations and law and order situation in the district. Senior IPS officers RP Koche and Amitabh Thakur briefed the DGP about anti-Maoists operations and future plans of the security forces to contain leftwing insurgency related violence in the State.

Among other senior officials of BSF and SOG were present during the meeting. Earlier, on December 9 Abhay assumed the charge.
