Odisha COVID-19 Death toll rises to 12

BHUBANESWAR/PURI:  The COVID-19 death toll in Odisha rose to 12 on Saturday with a 60-year-male from Puri district succumbing to the virus.

The patient was undergoing treatment at the hospital. He was also suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

“Regret to report the death of a 60-year old Covid positive Male of Puri district, while under treatment at hospital. He was also suffering for long from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease,” official tweeted. Odisha on Saturday reported 179 fresh COVID-19 cases taking the total positive cases to 4856 in the state.

At least 19 persons have tested positive for novel Coronavirus in the State capital in the last 24 hours, informed the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).

As per reports, four cases were reported from home quarantine while 15 are local contact cases. Following this, the BMC has declared Dumduma area as containment zone.Further contact tracing is still continuing. Primary contacts & nearby houses are being quarantined, sanitised & will be under active surveillance.

The BMC further informed that contact tracing of the coronavirus positive case is underway while primary contacts and nearby houses are being quarantined, sanitised & will be under active surveillance.
