Odisha Chief Secretary briefs on Unlock 2, night curfew from 9 PM to 5 AM

BHUBANESWAR: In view of the Unlock 2 in Odisha, Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy on Tue say said the educational institutions will be allowed to remain open to conduct examinations and evaluations. He said the night curfew across the state will be clamped from 9 PM to 5 AM.

The Chief Secretary said the Odisha government has categorized 10 districts namely Ganjam, Gajapati, Khordha, Cuttack, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Jharsuguda districts under Zone-1.

He said the local administrations in these districts were empowered to stop inter-district public and private transport movement if they feel that restrictions are needed.

Tripathy said office and business establishments can be closed by the local authorities. Emergency service, fire services, and police were exempted from the restrictions. Personnel of animal husbandry and fisheries departments are also given an exception.

The government has allowed hotels and restaurants for food takeaways whereas big grocery stores can make home delivery. The Chief Secretary said other districts have been categorized as Zone 2 where there will not be not much restrictions apart from the night curfew.

The Odisha Government  issued revised guidelines for the Unlock 2 in the state in pursuance of the order of the National Executive Committee to extend the lockdown in Containment Zones up to 31.07.2020, and to re-open more activities in a calibrated manner in areas outside Containment Zones.

The Officer of the Special Relief Commissioner, Odisha, in a notification in this regard.  The order read: “The State Government do hereby promulgate the following guidelines in the State of Odisha until midnight of 31.07.2020:
