Odisha asks Industries-Mines Firms in Angul-Talcher-Barbil belt to take step to control COVID-19

ANGUL/TALCHER/BARBIL: With COVID-19 positive cases are on rise, Odisha Government has asked Industries and Mines companies working in State’s coal bearing Angul-Talcher belt to take proper step to control the spread of the dreaded decease.

It may be noted here that 1 DGM died while 30 employees of various industrial units tested COVID-19 positive.

Angul district Collector SK Mohanty has written letters to ED- Nalco, CGM – NTPC- TSTPS, GM – NTPC- TTPS, GM – Jagannath area- MCL, GM- TFL-Talcher, COO – Jindal Steel and Power Limited, ED – JITPL and COO- TATA- BSL.

Minimum employees should go from outside in separate gate and with thermal scanning. He also instructed the management to accommodate the employees dealing with essential operation of the plant, within the plant area to avoid disruption of operation of the plant.

The Keonjhar district administration has imposed shutdown in the Barbil municipality area for a week to contain further spread of Covid-19 in the town.

All market places would be shut and unnecessary movement of vehicles would be restricted. However, healthcare services and essential goods supply would continue, said district Collector Ashish Thakare. The weeklong shutdown was announced after 11 new Covid-19 positive cases were detected at Barbil.
