Neonatal Department gives new life to premature baby weighing just 772 grams

BHUBANESWAR:The medical team of the Neonatal Department of the Institute of Medical Sciences and Sam Hospital has succeeded in saving the life of a baby girl born 26 weeks prematurely, weighing just 772 grams.

After the baby girl was born, she was immediately admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (ICU) after experiencing severe difficulty breathing.
The baby was treated with mechanical ventilation and advanced life support. The baby’s health gradually improved with treatment and all the problems and complications that were in his body due to being born prematurely started to disappear. Although his life was in danger, with proper treatment and care and the help and support of the medical team, the baby recovered after staying in the hospital’s NICU for 3 months.
After the baby recovered, Professor (Dr.) Debashish Nanda, Head of the Department of Neonatology, expressed happiness and praised the continuous efforts of the medical team and the patience and cooperation of the baby’s parents.
The medical team included Dr. Bhavgrahi Mallick, Dr. Ratan Kumar Das, Dr. Vijay Kumar, Dr. Vinit Kumar Panigrahi, Dr. Suresh Kumar Tripathi, Dr. Payal Pradhan, Dr. Shruti Pragya Kar, Dr. Pratyush Dwivedi, Dr. Shitikantha Nayak, Dr. Kalpita Sahu, Dr. Pujitha and Dr. Saratha Chandraka.
