Naveen Patnaik asks Officials to keep a close watch on Khurda-Cuttack-Sundargarh-Rayagada

BHUBANESWAR: With COVID-19 positive cases keep rising in 4 districts of Khurda, Cuttack, Sundargarh and Rayagada in Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was on Tuesday asked officials to plan for a new strategy to control the positive cases. Patnaik during a high-level review meeting relating to coronavirus through video conferencing said the positivity rate has to be reduced in the districts of Cuttack, Khurda, Rayagada, and Sundergarh through the adoption of the above-mentioned strategy.

“Glad to share that #Odisha became the leading state in the country with 1,096 #COVID19 tests per million per day, among the large states. Thanks everyone for scaling up testing facilities on war footing and strengthening Odisha’s effort to save every precious life. #OdishaCares,” Patnaik tweeted.

“Glad to share that we have crossed one million #COVID19 test milestone. Thank everyone who worked tirelessly to scale up testing facilities in short time and ramp up testing expeditiously to intensify our fight against the pandemic and save precious lives. #OdishaCares,” the CM in another tweet.

The virtual meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy, 5 T Secretary V K Pandian, and other senior officials.Tripathy said a multidisciplinary technical team has been formed comprising seven medical college professors to whittle down the rate of death.Additional Chief Secretary P K Mohapatra said one Plasma Storage Unit has been set up at Balasore to treat patients from Balasore, Bhadrak and Mayurbhanj districts.Special Relief Commissioner P K Jena also participated in the deliberation and dwelt upon the measures taken by the government to contain the spread of coronavirus.

It may be noted here that Odisha has topped the list in the country by conducting 50000 on a daily basis. The Chief Minister has congratulated the health ministry, all District Collectors and doctors for achieving the feat.The Chief Minister said over 50 lakh people were trained for tackling COVID-19 and added that the Panchayati Raj institutional members and health personnel have effectively contained the spread of coronavirus.

Patnaik said home isolation must be maintained as the asymptomatic cases are on the rise in the state. He said awareness campaigns are on the matter and added that the COVID Warriors must take forward the campaign to be more effective.The Chief Minister has expressed his satisfaction that daily testing has reached 50000 and urged the officials to maintain the test kit supply chain to forge ahead in this direction.

Patnaik said we value life and it is our foremost duty is to halt the rate of death at any cost. He said corporate sector has been urged to provide assistance for setting up COVID Care centre at various places. Their numbers must increase to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The Chief Minister said Koraput medical will have another Plasma Bank in the next week. Five Plasma Therapy units have been set up to contain coronavirus. He urged the people to maintain the feedback system so that it can effectively handle the health emergency.
