BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was on Thursday sanctioned an ex-gratia of Rs 15 lakhs each to 2 Journalists late Priyadarshi Patnaik of Samaj, Ganjam K Ratnam of News Today Pvt Ltd of Gajapati.

“Hon’ble CM Shri Naveen Patnaik sanctioned ex-gratia of Rs 15 lakhs each to next of families of   two  Journalists , late Priyadarshi Patnaik of Samaj, Ganjam and late K Ratnam of News Today Pvt Ltd, Gajapati, I thank Hon’ble CM for supporting their families,” Odisha Government’s Media Advisor and BJD General Secretary(Media Affairs), Manas Mangaraj tweeted @ManasMangaraj6.

Priyadarshi Patnaik, a resident of Hinjili area ub Ganjam district, was the first journalist, who died of the deadly disease while undergoing treatment at a COVID hospital on July 11 in Bhubaneswar.Next day, K. CH. Ratnam of Gajapati district lost his life to the virus.

He died under treatment at a COVID hospital in Bhubaneswar. His death was reported on July 12. Two days later, death of another journalist identified as Simanchal Panda from Ganjam district was reported in media. He was working with a weekly Odia magazine.
