Naveen Jindal Congratulates Big Bro Sajjan Jindal on Becoming 1st Indian Chairman of World Steel Association

BHUBANESWAR/NEW DELHI: Jindal Steel and Power Limited Chairman and former MP, Naveen Jindal , has congratulated his elder brother and JSW Steel Chairman, Sajjan Jindal, who elected as Chairman of World Steel Association. Sajjan Jindal, became the first Indian to hold this prestigious post. Established in 1967, it is one of the largest industry representations in the world, and is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.

World Steel Association (WSA) has elected Sajjan Jindal, Chairman and Managing Director of JSW Steel Ltd, as Chairman for the year 2021-22. Jindal is the first representative from India to serve as Chairman of the WSA. JSW Steel is the flagship business of the diversified $13 billion JSW Group and engaged in the manufacturing of iron and steel products in India and across the globe.

The Board of Members of the World Steel Association (worldsteel) has elected the following Executive Board of Directors for the 2021/2022 period. The individuals on the Executive Board of Directors will hold office for one year:Chairman – Sajjan JINDAL, JSW Steel Limited, Vice-Chairman – YU Yong, HBIS Group Co., Ltd., Vice-Chairman – Jeong-Woo CHOI, POSCO, Treasurer – Mark VASSELLA, BlueScope Steel Limited, Chairman of the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF) – Timoteo DI MAULO, Aperam.

Sajjan Jindal addressed the Board of Members, thanking Dr Yu Yong for his capable chairmanship over the last two years, and welcoming addressing the challenges for the global industry going forward, particularly with respect to climate change.

Worldsteel acts as the focal point for the steel industry, providing global leadership on all major strategic issues impacting the industry, particularly focusing on economic, environmental and social sustainability. Worldsteel members represent approximately 85% of the world’s steel production, including more than 160 steel producers, national and regional steel industry associations and steel research institutes.

JSW Group’s flagship JSW Steel is India’s leading and one of the world’s most efficient integrated steelmakers. The company is executing expansion projects to reach a steelmaking capacity of 37.5 MTPA by FY2025, including 1.5 MTPA capacity in the USA and entities under joint control, from 18 MTPA as of FY2021.
