BHUBANESWAR/NEW DELHI: Call it Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik doing his part in Bhubaneswar while Union PNG-Steel Minister Dharmendra doing the same in New Delhi and a result of which, this eastern India State getting regular accolades from regional and national to global forums.
With Odisha Chief Minister Patnaik worried for Odia workers stranded in Gujarat and who were mostly from BJD Boss’s home turf of Ganjam, Union PNG-Steel Minister Pradhan soon after getting this information, rang up to Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and result is , Odia workers will get bus facility for home coming.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday discussed with his Gujarat counterpart Vijay Rupani and Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan through video conferencing to chalk out plans to safely bring stranded migrant Odias to Odisha after completion of the nationwide lockdown period on May 3.
During the discussion it was decided that a coordination committee will be formed including two senior officials of both the states to facilitate easy return of the migrants. Mainly, they will be brought to Odisha by buses and the Chief Minister has urged to arrange other modes of transport to bring them back to Odisha safely.
The migrants have to register themselves before returning to Odisha.It will take three days travel by bus to reach them Odisha and the government is planning to send them by bus with all precautionary measures, said Rupani.
Meanwhile, despite COVID-19 lockdown, 38 labourers from Chennai had on Saturday reached Odisha by sea route. They have purchased the boat at Rs 2 lakh. The labourers, who arrived in Sonepur under Chikiti block of Ganjam district, were detained by the marine police.
Reports said these labourers had resorted to sea route to reach home as surface and air routes have been closed due to nationwide lockdown.
