Naveen announces COVID-19 Soup for Cops-Media at Fag end of Battle

BHUBANESWAR: The Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was on Monday announced an ex gratia of Rs 15 lakh to the kin of a working journalist who dies of coronavirus infection while performing his or her duty.

The Odisha government included police personnel under its scheme to provide an ex gratia of Rs 50 lakh in case of death while performing the COVID-19 duty. Worth mentioning, a few days back the government had declared that Rs 50 lakh ex gratia will be given for all doctors, nurses and heath personnel who lose their lives in the fight against COVID-19.

DGP Abhay thanked Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for the decision to provide Rs 50 lakh compensation to the families of police personnel in the event of unfortunate death in COVID 19 work. The State government also said health workers who die during the fight against COVID-19 will be treated as “martyrs” and accorded a state funeral.
