Nalanda Institute of Technology owned Buses fined Rs 51,000

BHUBANESWAR:  At least two buses owned by Nalanda Institute of Technology was on Monday fined Rs 51,000 for violating the traffic norms under new Motor Vehicles (MV) Act here.

The officials issued challans of Rs 25,500 each against Principal of the college for flouting the traffic norms.

The owner of two buses was fined a total amount of Rs 51,000 for using vehicles without registration number, fitness certificate (FC), violating air and noise pollution, using vehicles without permit or violating permit conditions.

The RTO officials stopped the vehicles owned by Nalanda Institute of Technology (NIT), a private educational institution, during checking at CRP Square in Bhubaneswar.

As the drivers of the buses failed to show valid FC and RP (road permit), the officials detained the vehicles under section 207 MV Act.
