BHUBANESWAR:A review meeting was held on Saturday under the chairmanship of Sambalpur MP Shri Dharmendra Pradhan regarding the functioning of various industrial institutions and mines in Sambalpur district and their industrial and mining activities.
In the meeting, various companies presented their annual CSR fund accounts and details of their environmental development programs. The companies have been advised to be more people-oriented, work with the local villagers and keep in mind their hopes and aspirations and carry out all development work with the permission of the district administration. Special emphasis has been given to employment generation in the area, employment opportunities for women, quality education for employability and skill development, Shri Pradhan informed while responding to the media.
On this occasion, a detailed discussion was held on the increasing heavy vehicle traffic and the load and transportation system of various power plants on State Highway-10. As the transportation pressure of Aryan, Shyam Metalics, Aditya Aluminium, JSW and Navavali Colliery as well as power plants of Vedanta, Ind Bharat and OPGC falls on this road, emphasis has been placed on a far-sighted plan for it.
Since it is a public road, the MP suggested that the industries should make their own parking arrangements, so that the common people will get rid of the dust and inconvenience of vehicles. Since there is no lighting system in the 15 km area from the new bus stand of Rengali block to Kherwal bridge, lighting will be arranged there, the road will be maintained by watering it properly and the road will be widened as per the requirement in consultation with PWD and L&T. For the improvement of the first 15 km road of the State Highway, the companies concerned should take a special grant and responsibility in consultation with the state government and PWD department. The meeting also suggested that the companies should take regular water irrigation and environment-friendly measures to control dust and pollution.
Sambalpur MLA Shri Jayanarayan Mishra was also present in this meeting.
