DHENKANAL/BHUBANESWAR:Veer Baji Rout is an immortal symbol of youth, sacrifice, courage, patriotism and sacrifice. The way he fearlessly sacrificed for the motherland during his sports career is the ultimate example of bravery for today’s new generation, said Sambalpur MP and former Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan.
Shri Pradhan on Friday participated in the ‘Tricolor Padayatra’ ceremony organized at Bhubaneswar, Nilakanthapur, the sacred birthplace of the youngest freedom fighter of the country, Shaheed Baji Raut. While paying homage at the ‘Shaheed Baji Raut Memorial Monument’ here, Shri Pradhan said that the contribution of Veer Baji Raut to the country is unparalleled. In his sports days, he considered it better to be shot by the British to protect the pride of the motherland. His birthplace should not be limited to an ordinary material monument, but should be developed as a unique “Center of Inspiration” that will provide inspiration for centuries.
Recalling the legacy of this militant land, he said that due to the unparalleled sacrifices of great personalities like revolutionary Sarangdhar Das, Veer Baishnab Charan Patnaik, Musa Mallick, Mahesh Chandra Subahu Singh, and Puruth Mohan Pradhan, this region became a major center of the freedom struggle against the British rule. At that time, there was a need to sacrifice for the country, but today there is a need to live for the country. By changing the lifestyle of the people using technology, our youth should be free from addiction, self-reliant, confident, skilled, scientists and doctors. The only way to properly pay tribute to these great and heroic fighters is to connect the products produced in this region to the global supply chain, he said.
Dhenkanal is a land of culture, spirituality, greatness and thought. In 2047, the country will complete 100 years of independence. Therefore, from now on, Shri Pradhan has called upon everyone to work together to build a ‘Developed Dhenkanal’ and ‘Developed Odisha’.
