More Evidence Put Bigwigs in Trouble in Mamita Meher Murder Case: BJP Continues Agitation, Shows Black Flag to CM

BHUBANESWAR/BALANGIR/BHAWANIPATNA/BARIPADA: More evidence backed by political agitation may create more trouble for some bigwigs in Odisha in connection with the murder case of Sunshine Model School, Mahaling, Kalahandi, teacher, Mamita Meher.

The members of BJP Mahila Morcha on Friday stormed into Capital Police Station in Bhubaneswar, demanding resignation and arrest of Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra over his alleged links with Gobinda Sahu, prime accused in the murder of Meher.

A team of party members led by BJP spokesperson Lekhashree Samantasinghar and Pinky Pradhan barged into Capital Police Station holding banners and posters. The party members demanded Mishra’s arrest alleging his good relations with prime accused Sahu.

BJP workers in Mayurbhanj have shown black flag to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during his visit to the district to launch distribution of smart health cards in the district.

Meanwhile, LoP Pradipta Naik has sought Rs 2 crore compensation for Mamita Meher’s kin and government job for a member of the famil. Naik also demands Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to direct police to give protection to Mamita’s family.

In the latest development into teacher Mamita Meher’s case, more evidence were found from the house of the accused, Radheshyam Chandi in the Kalahandi district.

According to police, a bag containing 3 pairs of women’s garments, a mobile phone and charger, and a few medicines kept under a bed was recovered from the house of Radheshyam alias Radhe, who was arrested in connection with the sensational murder case yesterday.

The source said that Radhe’s wife Asha Chandi found the bag from her house and handed it over to the Kegaon Police. Speaking on the murder incident, she said, “My husband is innocent. He is being dragged into the case.”

Reportedly, the Bolangir Police, who has taken the accused of Mamita Meher murder case, Govind Sahu on five-day remand, took him to Mahaling stadium to recreate the crime scene.

The scene recreation was done around 4 AM today in presence of DIG (Northern Range) and Bolangir SP.

The senior cop further informed since the 24-year-old teacher of Sunshine Model School, Mahaling had threatened Sahu, who was the president of the School Management Committee (SMC), to expose him, the latter was holding a grudge against her. To take revenge, he decided to eliminate her.

24-year-old Mamita of Jharni village had gone missing on October 8. Alleging involvement of Govind Sahu’s behind her missing, Mamita’s family members lodged a complaint with police. On October 19, bones of Mamita’s body were exhumed from Mahaling stadium in presence of police. The woman’s body was chopped into pieces before being burnt, said a member of the scientific team probing the incident. After being arrested on October 19, Sahu confessed to his crime and revealed that he had pre-planned the murder.
